Sealing the pump
From Pahwiki
The best method that we have discovered to seal the pump is by using Glad Press'n Seal® wrap[1]. Glad provides several examples of the product's use in wet environments[2]. We used this approach over the weekend with tremendous results. The pump stayed completely dry despite total immersion. In addition, no water leaked in around the tubing. The procedure for using the Press'n Seal® is as follows:
- Pull a sheet of Press'n Seal® roughly 14 inches in length.
- Lay the sheet sticky side up on a flat surface...
- Place the pump on one side of the material and route the tubing up along the length of the pump ..
- Fold the free end of the material over the pump and tubing. Press down along the edges to ensure an airtight seal. Press along the length of the tubing to ensure a tight seal around the tubing.....
Once the pump is sealed, it can be dipped and completely submersed in water without issue. Obviously, however, we don't recommend doing this!
